VARIA
3RD OF NOVEMBER

Varia
Varia is a collective-space located in Rotterdam that focusses on everyday technologies. We believe technology shouldn't be the exclusive domain of specialists. It affects everyone and should enable (rather than preclude) diverse ways of living. We understand everyday technology broadly (not just as computers but also, for example, as cooking tools or musical instruments). Being involved in the fields of art, design, software & hardware, education and theoretical practices, we felt the need for a place where technology and social questions are linked; a place where collaboration, continuity, development, collective learning, curiosity and experiments are foregrounded. At Zinecamp we will showcase a collection of publications by Varia members, including some auditory work, taking shape in diy audio synthesizer kits.

THE PARASITE ZINELIBRARY
2ND OF NOVEMBER

The Parasite Zinelibrary is part of the parasite project of Zinedepo and Motel Spatie in Arnhem Presikhaaf. It consists of a collection of scientific papers on parasites, parasitically appropriated and converted to zine format. Our aims are to increase general parasitic tolerance, to promote zineculture as zelfeductation by lifting knowledge on parasitism out of its academic niche and revitalize these relatively dead pdf’s by embedding them within zineculture.
And to promote the inclusion of social networks within the format of the zine and act against self-promotional artspam and so-called ‘zombie zines’ that have no information about who made it -where, why, and within what context (unlike scientific papers that DO have a tradition of including the network, but then usually only the academic network).
This because we believe that zombie zines have lost their effectiveness in the filter bubble.

SARAH VAN HULTEN
3RD OF NOVEMBER

Hello, I am Sarah van Hulten, 20 years old. Developing my story telling skills, my poem skills, hoping that I can touch people with my poems and stories. At this moment, I am studying water management and I came to the conclusion that I really love my study. So why not combining my studie and my poems? Well, that is what I am planning to do. Making poems about climate change. But my first book 'de levensloop van K.' is not so focused on climate change.
The main character K. face a lot of ups and downs in his life. The series of poems begin at the beginning of his lifecycle and end with the end of his live. I hope that people that go through the same situations as written in the book, know after reading this book that they are not alone. Dutch is my mother tongue and this is my first book, so the poems are written in Dutch. But I am planning to publish an English poem book after this one. So if this made you interested, hop by!😉

As a print room we are active beyond our studio too. We popped up in exhibitions and this year we are hosting The Other Book, a bi-yearly art book festival in The Hague.
We give workshops in Riso printing and zinemaking at Grafische Werkplaats in The Hague. We bring a fresh, professional, young and bizarre mix of Riso printed publications, all limited editions.
